Change, change, change. If you didn’t realize this yet about life, you’ll soon find out: change is constant. Does that make sense? The whole idea of being “constant” is about staying the same, being able to be relied upon, remaining, holding still, following a steady pattern. Well, there are only 2 things in life, so far as I know it, that have proven to be constant: 1) The Holy Trinity & 2) change. What an oximoron! Change is constant.
If you’ve been to Vertical or Reflection lately, you know that change is in the air. At least in my life. But, as I said again, change is always in the air for me, it seems. Anyway, my husband and I have been praying about our career/ministry paths, and taking a serious look at our finances (::Note: Girls, a word of wisdom, as boring as it sounds…take care of your finances! Don’t be in debt. Don’t foolishly use credit cards before you even know what damage they can do. You’ll be so happy in the future when you want to accomplish your dreams…REMEMBER? WISDOM IN ALL AREAS IS DREAM INSURANCE FOR YOUR HEART!)…and in the process, we decided that it’s time for me to go back to the health profession that I was entering into before I took a side path to full time youth ministry. Of course, it has nothing to do with satisfaction, or not wanting to be with you, or anything else, other than listening to the Lord for the next season of our lives.
At Reflection we talked about this…the next season may not look like what WE predict, even when we know in our heart of hearts what we want to do in the long run. It’s important to dream, to live in wisdom, and to keenly listen to the direction of the Holy Spirit. When you’re listening to Him, then you can safely step in directions YOU wouldn’t think make sense, but that He orchestrates for your safety and for your FULL satisfaction and acheivement of the dreams He places in your hearts. Does that make sense at all?
Andy and I are praying about some opportunities that may even take us out of state! We weren’t exactly planning that all along, and we certainly don’t know yet what the Lord wants, but we’re praying, following through, listening, and praying some more! If that happens, I promise that Reflection will live on, and projects we have been working on will not be tossed aside. And I also promise that I will stay in touch, and be connected with you, if you remain connected with me. And, if we don’t move, we’re not going anywhere else, and we’re planning on being at Vertical, and Reflection, and we’ll keep plugging away at the constant change that is called Life Church 😉
Change is constant. Change is inevitable. Your response to change is what shows your true character, the wisdom or lack of wisdom you live by, and the relationship you have with the Lord and with people. I challenge you to be hearers and doers of the Word, and not fear change. Change happens. It always will. And if you’re living a life that allows for no change, I suggest you may be living a sheltered life by fear, and not hearing the Lord for the adventures He longs to take you on! He’s a moving God. (Not that He isn’t stable, or that he wants us to live flighty lives…your character and faithfulness must remain steady in the midst of change, make no mistake!)
What adventure are you living, girls of God? Who are you reflecting in the midst of change?
